Catch 22 – Youth Inclusion Project

After School Club Sports Leaders are required for the local Youth Inclusion Programme running for 6 weeks in the Autumn term to help devise and deliver sessions to groups of children aged 8-14 years. All the volunteers need is a lot of enthusiasm for working with children and lots of energy! The commitment is very flexible and will fit around university commitments well.

Opportunities: Sports Leader

Times: 2 hours a week for 6 weeks.


Leicester Cobras Wheelchair Basketball Club

The Leicester Cobras Wheelchair Basketball Club was formed in 1992 by a group of disabled friends wishing to play wheelchair basketball. Since then the club has become a Registered Charity, grown in numbers, strength, skills and expertise, with members from age 12 upwards. They are looking for trainee table officials for home matches. 

Opportunity: Trainee Table Official: This position would suite someone who likes the game of basketball and is very good at working under pressure and score keeping.

Times: Flexible to suit, depending on scheduled games.


Leicestershire County Sports Partnership

The LCSP offer a variety of sporting activities for young people which require the support of enthusiastic coaching assistants.

Opportunities: Volunteers are needed to help with the following sports: Badminton; Football; Basketball; Netball; Swimming & Multi Sports Coaching 

Times: Regular weekly commitment is usually required but it will depend on the club.


Leicestershire Outdoor Pursuits Centre

LOPC has been in existence for about 40 years, originally being part of Leicestershire County Council Youth Services, then Leicester City Council Arts and Leisure Department.  As a volunteer you will assist the staff members in providing support to children who visit the centre. The role is varied and therefore you could be expected to help with administration duties, assisting with general upkeep of the building and grounds and assisting with the delivery of Holiday scheme and assist instructors where possible with the activity sessions

Opportunity: Activate Volunteer

Times: 9am-6pm week days during school holidays. The minimum commitment is one full week.


Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Board

Local cricket clubs are looking for volunteer co-ordinators to ensure that at the heart of each club is a group of people who are in the right place at the right time with the right skills to enable the club to achieve its goals.  This is an ideal opportunity for somebody interested in Human Resources or People Management

Opportunitiy: Volunteer Co-ordinator

Times: Flexible time and days to suit you and club


 Netherhall Diamonds 

Netherhall Diamonds FC is a local football team for young children of all ages based in Leicester City Centre.

Opportunities: Football Coach

Times: 2 hour training session, once a week.


V Involved – Sports Project

Voluntary Action Leicester are looking for coaches and Sports Ambassadors to work with clubs across the city to raise awareness of sporting opportunities available.

Opportunities: Coaching Assistants, Sports Leaders and Ambassadors

Times: Flexible to suit
