Welcome Event
This year, before the Student Rep training starts, we would like to invite you to attend a Welcome Event, hosted by Calvin Dass and Prof. Philip Martin. this will take palce on Monday 2nd November in Level 1 from 5pm onwards. A drinks reception and nibbles will be provided. There will be a short presentation on the role of the Student Rep and the importance of student representation within DMU. This is an opportunity to meet with key staff from your Faculty as well as staff from across the University and other Student Reps.
Training
Training for Student Reps is delivered by the Students’ Union. This provides an overview of the role, details of who to approach within your Faculty and the Students’ Union for support, the structures of the University and briefly looks at some issues we may be faced with. You will also have the opportunity to meet other Reps.
The training dates are as follows:
Tuesday 3rd November 2009, 5 - 7
Thursday 5th November, 12 - 2
Monday 9th November, 5 – 7
Wednesday 11th November, 12 – 2
Friday 13th November, 12 - 2
Returning Reps
We value your opinions and the fact that you'd like to continue to be a Student Rep and hopefully make a difference. As such we'd like to discuss how things have gone from your perspective - what worked well or not so well, how the Union and the University can better support you, what changes have been made as a result of your participation, are there areas that seem to continually be ignored, etc.
We'd like to invite you to an informal session on Tuesday 17th November from 5pm onwards to discuss the above and any other comments that you have.
Training dates for Associate Colleges are being scheduled at this time. Once you have submitted your contact form we will contact you.
After you have been elected you will be asked to complete a Student Rep Contact Sheet. This contains your contact details and shows which course you have been elected to represent. You will need to indicate which training session you wish to attend on the form. Once complete, your Faculty will return the form to DSU. We will then contact you to confirm your registration and place on the training session.
Please note that we only contact you via your DMU email account so it is vital to check this or you will miss out on vital information from us relating to training, the Student Rep Conference in 2010 and additional opportunities for you to get involved.
