Become a Faculty Rep!
Just like Student Reps represent the views of students on their course, Faculty Reps take this one step further and represent the views of all students within the Faculty.
Becoming a Faculty Rep is a great way to take your role as a Student Rep that one step further and get even more involved.
In addition to your role as a Student Rep you will sit on one of two Faculty level committees - either the Faculty Academic Committee (FAC) or the Faculty Learning and Teaching Committee (FLTC) - and provide the student voice. In addition to this, Faculty Reps take part in periodic reviews of subjects across the University and this year Faculty Reps will also get the chance to feed directly into a focus group led by Professor Philip Martin, Pro Vice Chancellor.
It is a highly rewarding role allowing you to raise both positive feedback and constructive criticism, on behalf of your Faculty, directly to the Senior Executive within the University and the Students’ Union.
You will receive a certificate proving your dedication to the role signed by the Union and the University as well as being provided with ongoing support and development from the Students’ Union.
Elections for Faculty Reps are generally conducted at your Faculty Welcome events so it is important you attend particularly if you want to be elected; however this is not always the case. Please contact your Faculty Student Rep Co-ordinator for more information on which Faculties will be electing their Reps at this event and what the alternatives are.
Representatives from the Students’ Union will be in attendance at these Faculty welcome events to support the election process. There will generally be key staff from the Faculty in attendance at these meetings so it is a good idea to familiarise yourself with them. Lunch is provided.
Faculty welcome events will take place as follows:
