Sheikh Jubran Saeed is the elected Sports Officer for De Montfort University Students' Union.
Jubran's responsibilities are to actively promote DSU Sports clubs and encourage student participation as well as to work with relevant staff members to ensure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to within sports clubs. He can attend sports club's committee meetings in an ex-officio capacity.
Jubran is a second-year law student who has worked alongside various committee members of different societies over the past year and intends to use his experience to make our sports facilities more dynamic and vibrant.
His intentions are really straightforward and he has no short cuts. He loves sports and his plan is to make every sports club more exciting and approachable for every student at DMU. Be it first-year students or fourth-year students, everyone will be encouraged to do what they can do best and will be given the chance to prove themselves on the field. He believes that every sports facility needs to be made more efficient and should be focused on fresh talent.
"There have always been statements, there have always been promises... and each year there has been a massive let down. You can say goodbye to all those fake promises... to all those talks without any actions. After much consideration I am standing up for this position because for whoever I have worked for, I have never let them down and neither will I let YOU down. I believe in myself and so do my friends who have encourages me to run in elections.", Jubran said in his manifesto commitment.
