Environmental Aspects and Impacts of DSU Operations
In order to meet the aspiration within our strategic plan to reduce the impact of our activities on the environment, to meet the expectations of our members and stakeholders and to engage in good practice, DSU has committed to reducing the impact of its activities on the environment.
This document lists the major aspects and impacts of the organisation on the environment. The impacts listed are both direct and indirect. We acknowledge that our ability to reduce the direct impact of our activities is greater than our capacity to influence the other organisations which may be responsible for the indirect impacts.
An aspect is defined as ‘an element of an organisation’s activities or products or services that can interact with the environment.’
An impact is defined as ‘any change to the environment, whether adverse or beneficial, wholly or partly resulting from an organisation’s environmental aspects.’
