► Executive Renumeration Policy
EXECUTIVE OFFICER REMUNERATION POLICY
This union notes that:
Between 2003/04 and 2005/06 DSU’s block grant was frozen;
During 2004/05, financial pressures led DSU Executive Officers to draw only £12,592 of their £13,536 remuneration;
In 2005, financial pressures further led DSU Executive Officers to formally reduce Executive remuneration for 2005/06 from £13,536 to £11,812;
During 2006/07, DSU’s block grant increased by 9% and a further 6% increase was confirmed for 2007/08
DSU Executive Officers currently receive £13,368. This is less than their predecessors were remunerated in 2004/05;
The block grant increase for 2007/08 was confirmed after the last Governing Council Meeting for 2006/07;
The financial pressures which prompted the original reduction in Executive salaries are no longer being experienced by DSU;
For various reasons, executive officers are usually remunerated below the market rate for the tasks they perform.
This union believes that:
Executive Officer remuneration for the academic year 2008/09 should be increased;
Remuneration Levels for 2008/09 should be comparable in real terms with 2003/04 remuneration levels;
For various reasons, executive officers should be remunerated below the market rate for the tasks they perform.
This union instructs that:
DSU Executive remuneration should increased from point 5 on the NFA scale, currently £13,368, to point 7 on the NFA scale, currently £14,491 with effect from July 1st 2008.
Cost of living increases should be applied to these scale points in accordance with the National Framework Agreement for Higher Education.
